...........................,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,................................................................................................................................................. Questions and Answers The following are commonly asked questions about the Oscillot Cat Containment System. If your questions are not answered in this section please email me at paul.bok@oscillot.com.au or phone (08) 8572 4471 or mobile 0412 748 668 with your question so I can give you my personal attention. Q. I'm not sure which is the best way to instal the Oscillot system for my yard situation. There are some tricky spots that I need some help with. Do you offer a online advice service? A. Oscillot is designed for all sorts of situations and fence types. There is a solution for all those "tricky spots". We offer a free online quoting service via email. Just send us your contact number, some photos of your fence perimeter, a mud map drawing with dimensions of the area you wish to allocate to your cat, and we will calculate your needs. It's that simple! Q. I'm interested in your product but I need to know what happens if the fence undulates in some areas? A. I take it that your fence tapers up or down in certain sections or is it stepped in certain places? The Oscillot system caters for either of those situations. The Oscillot paddles are designed to be able to be mounted on a sloping fence or on the vertical for stepped fences. Oscillots stepped axles and self-aligning bearings allows for the paddles to be mounted at any angle. A detailed installation guide is posted on our website www.oscillot.com.au/diyinstall.htm for you to download and print. You might like to send us a photo of your fence situation for our clarification and so that we can advise you of the most suitable Oscillot installation method. Q. How are the Oscillot paddles fixed to our brushwood fence? A. In the case of a brushwood fence, you must first have a timber or metal capping already in place on your fence. The Oscillot brackets are then screwed on to the top or front edge of that capping. Cats will climb up the brushwood but will not be able to get a foot hold once they reach the Oscillot paddles. Q. My old wooden fences are presently 1.5 metres tall..I plan on adding fence extensions from Bunnings to the street side..do you recommened all sides be increased in height? A. Make sure that your old fence is in sound condition so that the Oscillot paddles can be fixed to the fence securely. Although the Oscillot System has been trialed successfully with some cats at only 1.2 metres, we recommend a fence at the standard height of 1.8 metres or 6 foot. Depending on the athleticism of your cat, the Oscillot System set at lower heights may be just as effective. Q. We have a stepped dividing fence and so I think we would need to cut and possibly overlap the lengths. Would this be possible? Also the fence is cyclone mesh (tennis court) clad with brush fencing. We were thinking of attaching it to the top rod or possibly just below so that it would be in front of the brush cladding A. Mounting the Oscillot paddles at 90 degrees to the top rod in front of the brush cladding would be the most effective method in your situation. If the step in the fence exceeds 100 mm, then a vertically mounted Oscillot paddle section on the post may be required at each step to prevent your cat from climbing the mesh and reaching around the vertical post to effect escape. Q. We have three questions, firstly what are the colour choices we have to match to the existing fences. secondly how tall are the paddles from the top of the existing fence, how tall are the corner pieces. Lastly can the Oscillot lengths be cut at home as our fences are not multiples of 2.4. A. The Oscillot Paddles are available in 16 of the ColorbondTM colours. The end brackets are 75 mm high and the paddle height is 60 mm and sits 15 mm off the top of the existing fence. Corner assemblies are approximately 150 mm from the top of the existing fence to the tip of the apex of the cone. The corner cones are also be available in ColorbondTM colours. An installation guide is on this website at www.oscillot.com.au/diyinstall.htm and a video showing how Oscillot was developed is at www.oscillot.com.au/OscillotstoryVid.htm The paddles are easily cut the to length using a tin snips, hack saw or thin blade in an angle grinder ( be sure to wash off any metal swarf with warm mild soapy water to prevent rust developing). Q. I have a couple of queries. Firstly, does the system have to sit on top of the fence (I'm concerned about neighbours), can it be fixed to a paling fence; and do the corner pieces adjust to corners that are less than 90 degrees? A. The Oscillot brackets can be mounted on any solid surface including the leading edge of wooden paling fences such as yours. The corner assemblies will cover any angle and are designed to sit slightly above the paddles. Their main purpose is to prevent a cat from obtaining any toe-hold where the fencelines meet. However they are designed to mount on top of the corner, so you may have to chat to your neighbour. We recommend that you speak to your neighbours as a matter of courtesy to prevent any disputes. The Oscillot System is so unobtrusive that you should have no problems in getting your neighbours' approval to fit Oscillot to your common fence. DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE OSCILLOT SYSTEM?
